Chinese language is far different from romance languages

such as French, Spanish, Italian etc., and English at

certain points. Therefore, Americans usually feel difficult

in learning Chinese. However, if you have a good start

with useful tactics and therefore get on the right track at

the beginning, you do not have to worry a lot.

What are the tactics?

First, You need to know the structure of Chinese characters

and practice writing the radicals that play partial role

to compose characters. Many Chinese characters are

pictophonetic, i.e., one radical gives a clue to the

meaning of the character while the other radical

provides a clue to the pronunciation for the same

radical. If you keep this rule in mind, writing and

memorizing characters will not be a problem.

Second, you need to learn how to use pinyin, the pronunciation

key, and then learn to get rid of the pinyin. It is important to

know how each character is pronounced accurately. However,

once you know the pronunciation, you need to train yourself to

read out the characters without pinyin. Being dependent on the

pinyin at the beginning and being independent from pinyin at

the end are the tip.

The more you learn Chinese, the more your interest in Chinese grows.

Chinese language has been developed along with Chinese history.
